Christmas is a special time for people to spend with their loved ones. Much of the food is the same as on Thanksgiving for many families, but Christmas is usually considered the bigger holiday and it is the more anticipated one, especially for kids. Why? Because of the “happiness and joy” that come from the holiday. Usually that joy is a result of the idea of Santa visiting in the evening while everyone is sleeping to deliver gifts and presents. And of course, opening the gifts is equally or more exciting.
For me it’s a time of joy because of something much larger than gift-giving and time with family, although those are very important and certainly enjoyable. It’s a joy that revolves around the meaning of Christmas, and that is the birth of Jesus Christ and the implications of his birth and the events that took place in his life and after his crucifixion. For many Americans this part of Christmas is less significant, but for most Americans, Christmas has a unique feeling of happiness that is unlike any other holiday, regardless of their beliefs.

The trees and and the hills are covered with snow, the Christmas tree is alight, it's a soft white shine. The Christmas tree smells like lemon, the fire is hot in the fireplace, the Christmas stockings are up and filled to the brim with treats for our big day, the shops are filled with shoppers and merry Christmas greetings from everybody. Smiles are on everybody's faces with best wishes from everyone. The presents look beautiful under the tree.
In the streets you see people plowing snow, at night the town is transformed by the Christmas decorations and the lights are everywhere.Pointsettas decorate the homes everywhere. Snowmen are being build by the kids outside, there is talk about sledding, skiing and snowboarding. The most important thing about Christmas comes out: being with the people you love, family and giving. Christmas in the States is amazing.
The food is smelling amazing cooking in the kitchen, wine and good food are shared amongst each other in the spirit of this great vacation. The dogs and the cats are sleeping beside the fire, everybody is warm, even though it's freezing outside.
Best wishes and a merry Christmas from The United States!
